Curated Learning by email

What is coding.cafe?

I thought about this website while reading a bunch of posts by Reddit's members asking the same question:

I want to learn how to make websites, where do I start?

I created coding.cafe to show you the path to making a website; to help you practice by providing concrete exercises; to follow up on you so you stay motivated; to answer to your questions and help you start AND finish your website (or to answer to your questions and provide feedback so you know you are in the good track to making a website, or something like that).

So here is what we will do: Once a week, you will receive an email with a theme, clear objectives, and links to free-content available online. Then, to make sure you understood the subject, you will have an exercise that is as close as possible to what you would do in real life.

On Fridays, we'll have a live stream where I'll answer questions and explain stuff. And have fun. If you don't look at your emails for a while, I'll write to check in on you and help you getting back on track.

Why this approach to learning?

When I want to learn something new, I learn it by myself. My method is simple: I go online and gather as much information as possible about a subject and I study (basically, reading articles and watching tutorials). Well, there are three main issues with my method:

  1. Information is all over the place, and there is no continuity or roadmap.
  2. When I have access to a bunch of information it's hard to stay focused and motivated. Oftentimes, I stop before I'm done.
  3. I don't practice :(

If this sounds like you, keep reading...

coding.cafe is for you if:

I do, I am a chronical non-finisher with experience making websites and teaching Front-end Web Development, so let's help each other.
